Academy Director - Ryan Doidge

Coach Ryan is originally from the UK and moved here after meeting his wife in the USA where he worked for the New York Red Bulls in their youth development programs. 

Ryan has a wealth of experience when it comes to coaching. After leaving RBNY and moving to Australia, Ryan has worked with NPL 1 clubs and A league clubs as part of their W-League program. Ryan is FFA 'A' licenced accredited, holds a NSCAA 'Director of Coaching' diploma and is also 'Advanced Coach Educator' certified.

Why I coach: I am passionate about youth development in football. To see a player shine, have goals and ambitions, and to help to achieve those goals is a fantastic experience. 

Academy Manager, U9 Wanderers & U12/1 Head Coach - Unai Bell

Coach Unai had a very successful youth football career representing the La Liga outfits Malaga FC and RCD Espanyol. Unai also played for the Spanish national team at U18 level, scoring the winner on his debut and has also shared the field with Lionel Messi!

Unai loves that football allows players forget about everything when they are in the field. For 90 minutes they can be in a happy bubble. Playing in front of big crowds always gave him goosebumps.

Why I coach: I love interacting with kids, teaching, sharing my
experiences with them and watching them grow and develop a love for the game.

U8 Blades Head Coach - Ben Harris

Coach Ben is originally from Huntingdon in England but moved to Australia when he was very young. Coach Ben has a good understanding of local football on the Northern Beaches and has represented a few different clubs whilst growing up playing the game. 

Coach Ben likes playing in defense and prides himself on keeping clean sheets. He hopes he passes on to the players his advice of work hard to improve, enjoy the game and always play with sportsmanship.

U8 Gunners Head Coach - Jonny Whelan

Coach Jonny has been playing football for 35 years and has been at Dee Why FC for 20 of them! One of his favourtie ever memories was invading Goodison Park Pitch after Everton Survived Relegation on the last game of the season in 1994! 2 nil down at half time and they won 3-2! Jonny loves the game as you can feel so many emotions in 90 minutes and believes in 'never stop trying and never give up'.

Why I coach: I’m passionate about the game and love the opportunity to help the game improve in this Country at grass roots as that’s the most important level in my opinion

U10 Phoenix Assistant Coach - Glenn Murdoch

Originally from VIC, Coach Glenn moved to the Northern Beaches when he was very young and has lived here since. Glenn is a big fan of team sports as he believes they can teach invaluable life lessons. When he was 9 he decided to follow a career in Baseball which took him to rep level and he still plays to this day and has completed several coaching licences in that sport. He hopes some cross code knowledge will help our players in their development.

Why I coach: Love seeing kids develop & being able to pass on some knowledge that I have acquired over the years

U10 Jets Head Coach - Kyle Cannon

Coach Kyle has experience in both playing and coaching at both senior and youth level on the Northern Beaches. He loves the game because of the buzz it gives you just before kick off. Coach Kyle's favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo as he was so impressed with the transformation from a young arrogant player into the world's best whilst keeping his feet on the ground and doing it the right way. Coach Kyle's advice for players is that 'hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard'.

Why I coach: A way to keep involved in the game and pass on knowledge to the players.

U10 Jets Assistant Coach - Kai Lincoln

Coach Kai is originally from Hawaii and represented both his high school and college team as a goalkeeper. Coach Kai loves watching goalkeepers make incredible saves, especially when the strikers think they have already scored. His favourite quote is: 'Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard'.

U11 Spurs Head Coach - Thabo Mangena

Coach Thabo is originally from South Africa and developed a deep love and passion for the game whilst he was growing up. Coach Thabo is enthusiastic in giving players confidence and helping them believe in themselves as he believes this one of the most important things for a young athlete. Coach Thabo loves the game as it is a fun team sport which allows for a different mix of skills. His favourite player is Didier Drogba as he was a humble player who could score different types of goals.

Why I coach: Love to see kids develop and become better individuals

U11 Spurs Assistant Coach - Lee Williams

Coach Lee started playing football when he was 10 years old. After playing for a year he changed code and strated competing in Karate and represented Great Britain in both the the World Championships and European Championships where he won a gold medal! Coach Lee hopes to help our players by passing on some of his elite performance knowledge.

U12/2 Head Coach - Anna McGregor

Coach Anna is originally from NZ where she played center back for Waikato Bay of Plenty winning the NZSS Championships. Coach Anna loves playing with her teammates and having fun in both games and training. Anna's favourite player is Tobin Heath for the USWNT as she is amazing to watch and the queen of nutmegs!
